Ghazvin, Iran - On June 23, 2002 a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Qazvin Province of Iran 300 miles from the capital Tehran.  

A region with mostly mud brick houses, dozens of villages were completely destroyed killing hundreds and devastating the lives of thousands. 

Iran has been hit by a number of earthquakes in the recent years with the most devastating being the Bam Earthquake in 2003 that killed at least 50,000 people.
